Running a campaign for any elected office does have its expenses and a local city council race is no different. Successful city council candidates in Taunton spend an average of almost $5000.
If you are able to support the campaign to elect Barry to the Taunton City Council, please send your check made out to "CTE Barry Sanders" to our Treasurer:
7 Braemore Road
Taunton, MA 02780
or use our secure online application to donate using your credit card by clicking the button below.
Why didn't he ask me? (A note from Barry)
As the campaign moves forward and the normal campaign activities increase- attending events, visiting house parties and showing up uninvited at your door with campaign literature - you might notice that there are a few things I won't be doing that most other candidates probably will be doing. I won't be selling tickets to fundraisers or asking for campaign contributions. I won't be doing any of that, not because I don't need any money but because it is against the law.
As a clinician for the Department of Mental Health, I am prohibited by law from soliciting or accepting campaign and political donations. Even for my own campaign. The same law applies to teachers, police officers, firefighters and DPW workers.
The law is pretty pervasive and prevents me from doing lots of things that might not seem so bad but are still against the law for me.
What I can do is let you know that I have a great campaign committee who can help you with contributions if you are so motivated. You can find everything you need to know on our Facebook page and on the campaign website.
In the end, fundraising is not what this campaign is all about. I want to meet as many people as I can in the next 5 1/2 months, to listen to the hopes and concerns of Taunton residents and to share my thoughts about how we can get things done in Taunton.
I am grateful for any support you can offer.
